View Full Version : outlook express+pictures
misskellibad1 November 11th, 2002, 21:45 PM Hi all. For the last few days I have been unable to send pics with any messages I send. To be more precise, the pics insert but the recipients receive the "red x" instead. All the messages in my sent folder have the red x, but I sent a test to myself and I now see the pics just fine (I changed nothing), but still all my recipients state they are not getting them.
I hope this makes sense, strange problem.
phishhead November 11th, 2002, 22:04 PM what kind of format are the pictures...jpg, gif, tif, etc?
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 00:05 AM thanks for the reply phishhead, they are jpg and gif.
phishhead November 12th, 2002, 00:16 AM when was the last time it worked? and has anything changed since then...hardware or software changes....
phishhead November 12th, 2002, 00:20 AM what ISP do you use? and do you have outlook 2000 or xp to test a different mail client
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 00:21 AM I have been getting e-mails for about 4 days that the pics aren't coming through. The first day, I checked everything, changed nothing and "voila" I can view the pics, but it seems no one else can. As for changes, I haven't changed anything. I did a clean-up last week (like I always do) and got rid of the usual, temp files, cookies, temp int files.

Tinker November 12th, 2002, 00:30 AM Hello........
Have any of the folks that are receiving your e-mails tried to right click on the red X and then select show picture? If so what happens when they do?
Reverend November 12th, 2002, 00:32 AM Kelli, are you embedding the images in the message body,or sending them as attachments?
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 00:40 AM Well egghead, that would be if I have sp1 installed, right?
I do not, that is a whole different problem for me.
@Tinker, I never thought of that. Will ask.
@phishhead, rogers, and I tried outlook, and another e-mail address, but I don't see the difference as now I'm seeing the pic, but everyone else is saying they can't. I just received another e-mail reply, telling me still no go, with the pic right smack in the middle of the e-mail!
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 00:41 AM thanks for all your help on this one-you guys are great!
@ Reverend, I've tried both and no go.
Reverend November 12th, 2002, 00:50 AM Kelli, send me the email, and i'll see if i get the same problem.

misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 00:54 AM Thanks Reverend, sent.:)
Reverend November 12th, 2002, 01:02 AM Just received it,works fine for me.
It maybe a problem with your recipients ISP's
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 01:11 AM Thanks for all your help everyone! I will have to ask them who they use-I know a few of them are the same as me, I just find it strange that it's 20 other people's problem-not mine. Oh, well, I can live with that.;)
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 02:08 AM O.K. I lied, I cannot live with that! This is really bugging me now.
I am dealing with 6 different providers, so how can that be their problem and not mine, and how can it be fixed, if that's the case?
Right after I e-mailed you Reverend I sent to 2 different providers, and still no go.
Tinker November 12th, 2002, 02:41 AM OK kelli look here (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;q171908) .
I hope this helps.......
misskellibad1 November 12th, 2002, 04:34 AM Thanks Tinker, that was one of the first things I saw. I have everything configured the right way. My girlfriend who uses sprint just informed me she received no embedded pic, and my girlfriend who uses netzero did. (after umpteen e-mails) This is a really strange problem, it has me stumped.
I have scanned for viruses, nothing there. So, ??????
I'm going to bed, maybe Bill Gates will come to me in a dream (scary thought), just to solve my attachment problem!:p
misskellibad1 January 28th, 2003, 21:01 PM Hi all! I have solved this strange problem. I came across something on the internet the other day similar to my problem.
Users reporting conflicts between "hotbar" and "outlook express"
I never thought of that as the time frame was not an issue (or so I thought) Anyway, I uninstalled hotbar, and voila, problem fixed.
Thought I'd share just in case.;)
egghead January 28th, 2003, 21:11 PM great to hear what the problem eas!
its nice to see the solutions for the variuos problems.
cheers
egghead
