Intel Mobo Overclock, How To?

ANyone know how to overclock an INTEL 850GB Motherboard? Its the 423 PIN version?

I think you are out of luck Boogs,as far as i am aware,the 850GB bios doesn't support FSB or Multiplier adjustment.So overclocking is impossible.

I thought I had read somewhere that the board was not overclockable. I just wanted to confirm it, or see if anyone knew of a trick or hack to do this..
Oh well, guess when its time to upgrade I won't be buying an Intel board, might get an ASUS or a ABIT.

I'm running a P4 (423 pin)1.7 @1.9 on an Abit TH7-RAID.I could probably push it higher but haven't tried yet.

If you want to keep your 423 P4 i'd highly recommend this board.
Because the 423 pin is being phased out,you should be able to find a bargain somewhere.

Abit also have a version for the 478 P4's . The TH7 II-Raid

There's this Wise-Ass at Neowin who claims that his Intel P4 is overclocked and his motherboard is an Intel 850. I PM'd him asking how he did it, but he never replied. I know for a fact that all Intel 850 Motherboards cannot be overclocked. I'm using an Intel 850MD.

I know who you are talking about. He has it stated in his SIG, I forgot his name, but I too PM'd him about it. I think he is full of camel dung.

At one time Intel actually put pressure on other board manufacturers to remove overclocking features from their bioses.

Im sure ive seen a way to overclock the chip itself but it aint an easy way....u gotta actualy mod the cpu itself (not rekomended !!)..ill try and dig out the info for u !

mod the chip? Bit risque...
but I'd like to see how this is done. I think it involves using a very thin wire to lasso two of the pins together so that they are in contact through the metal wire...
I'd really prefer to FSB o'clock this..

Very risky proposal, no way in hell would I be trying something like this on my P4 or mobo. God knows what could burn out if anything went wrong....dam just buy a faster cpu before attempting this:eek:
