WPI is first university to use Segway transporter - 2003-01-14 - Boston Business Journal - Worcester Polytechnic Institute has become the world's first university to use of the Segway Human Transporter (HT) after acquiring three of the self-balancing human transporters this past fall.
WPI's campus police department has already started using two of the transporters to patrol the school's 80-acre main campus in Worcester.
I am surprise more universities haven't kicked off with the segway. They are economical, fairly fast, and quiet..
These are ideal for larger sized universities where there is a considerable distance between buildings.
