FILTER SPAM IN OUTLOOK XP
Ed from Whitecourt, Alberta called asking how to set up mail rules in
Microsoft
Outlook 2002.

+ Click Tools and launch the Rules Wizard.
+ Choose to "Start with a blank rule."
+ Put a check next to "With specific words in a sender's address."
+ Enter the specific thing you want to filter. We used "yahoo.com"
(without
quotes) as an example. Click OK.
+ On the next pane, choose what you want to do with the messages. You
can
"Delete it," but I recommend choosing "Move to a specific folder."
+ Make a new folder and apply the rule.

I'd say that's a little tedious sometimes though...

you would have to create a rule for each senders address and most spam companies have learned to change the domain portion of the address.

You sould filter on specific words, but then you run the risk of filtering incorrect messages.

My solution: bomb the spammers:boom:

the point was to move the "spam" into a different folder. that way you can run through it very quickly. I have it set to remove any message with my username in the title because I never send myself email...
Then it moves to another folder and I have that set to delete after I close Outlook.

I think Outlook (Outlook 2002) has an option in it that allows you to filter mail. Under the Action menu option, there is a Junk Mail filter. This bascially accomplishes the same thing as the move to folder option.

Nice idea to delete on exit though. I will have to play with that.

Yes, Outlook has a Junk mail filter, and you can even update the filter settings from MS. It will check for Keywords in the emails like "lose weight"
It doesn't work on Hotmail address.
You can open this option from the organize panel.
and MS post every now and then a txt file that contains the filter criteria
