I bought a new 120gig Maxtor Ultra 8mb HD and when I first tried to format it said unable to format check disk for errors. I hooked it up to my old HD and ran checkdisk with fix errors & recover bad sectors enabled. I never could get it to except my XP image from DriveImage so just did a clean install and all seems fine except....in event viewer there's a Disk error report that says Hard drive O/D id7 has a bad block. The drive is partitioned Drive C & Drive F and there's also an error that says Drive F file sys is corrupt please run checkdisk....

Hmm Drive F only has one folder that has 10 picture's in it & they looked fine, ran checkdisk for drive C & F and F is fine now but still have the "Hard drive O/D id7 has a bad block" error :(

Even though things are working fine is my HD bad ? should I take it back and get a replacement or do any of you know a fix ?

Thanks

I am assuming you ran chkdsk with the recover option?

I think is chkdsk /R but I am not sure.

Also chkdsk /F
If that doesn't work, and you still get the error, take it back. I would.

:D

I took the drive back cuz checkdisk should of flaged that bad block (sector?) and re-mapped it but no go :( plus I formated it with 3 diffrent programs so I know the format was not the problem....

New HD is fine and it took my my XP image so I'm :D now I need ta send my 80gig off to California ;)

Thanks to all for your help.
