The motherboard doesn't sound so good, it still uses SDRAM.

It uses both Conan:
Support all AMD Socket-462/A CPU at 200/266MHz FSB (up to XP2600+)
4 DIMM slots, 2 slots for PC133 SDRAM & 2 slots for PC2100 DDR-RAM
Maximum 2.0GB, (SDRAM and DDR-RAM can not be use on the same time)
PC133 SDRAM Support: 168-pin DIMM Unbuffered Non-parity 3.3V Non-ECC
PC2100 DDR-RAM Support: 184-pin DIMM Unbuffered Non-parity 2.5V Non-ECC

But I agree. The weak point of that system is the motherboard. Other than that, all the components seem good.

I would suggest another Pc, but after what happened to Lynch, I don't want to feel responsible. Sorry.

Oh and that price. It is great. In fact, you can't go wrong at that price even with that motherboard..

Use the mobo that comes with the package for a while, then sell it or give it away and get a new Asus, Abit, MSI, Gigabyte, etc...

FG would be who I would ask for an AMD mobo selection.

Erm thanks BB nobody was more surprised than I when it went at auction. The guy has about 400 more. Amix of this, Celerons and p4s. He puts twenty a day in and I'm thinkin they gonna eventualy start going for less.

When you go to pay him there are all kinds of options for upgrade at reasonable prices.

I was shopping for a Asus A7N8X Deluxe and maybe a case when circumstances dictated quickie upgrade whole system.

LOL I prolly going to spend as much for cheap SDram as the whole system!

I could saved a little more and got another fan and maybe some cables and the DDR Ram but I was unavoidably detained over weekend and looks like I better save my money now and build later. I can get it to work now but my whole pupose was use an app that requires 760 megs of ram. I guess AMD really means it when they say try and use ram from same manufacturere so I'll be stuck at 256mb SDRAM for awhile.

Looking at this form I see I ordered the wrong cable but I think I change that.

BB that rig ypou linked to is at $67 right now with plenty time left....no lookin back for me now though!
