Well even if my funds are kinda low, I just couldn't resist when I saw the MSI Motherboard in front of me. I just ordered today an Intel P4-2.6C 512kb 800mhz HT, MSI 865PE Neo2-S (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=865PE_Neo2-S), and 512 mb of Twinmos DDR 400. I will be receiving it by the weekend hopefully.
This motherboard was the fastest in Tom's Hardware Mobo Tsunami (http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20030707/index.html) which was posted by Dehcbad25 in another thread.

nice upgrade.. After I get my car set, I think I'll fork down.. but me wife is wanting to start saving so we can start our own business so I will have to be really thrifty hehehe
:D
So what did you get it for? Was it a local AKA "under the rug" transaction? Or was this online? Brick and mortar?
When you gonna post some performance benchmarks?

Total bill is $ 470. Got it from a local retail shop. I don't have it yet. The processor had to be ordered, so Friday or Saturday is the target date, then I have to install the stuff myself.

Just got CPU magazine and has a Intel mobo roundup. The latest MSI board MSI 875 Neo-FIS2R is a step up from your board and was a late entry for their testing. It had problems running stable with the newer bios and had poor perfomance with a bios regression. This new version of your board needs help and for $249 right now MSI can keep it.The Asus $239 P4C800 and the Abit $225 IC7-G Max2 Advance were the top two.The Intel D875PBZ for $189 did very good in the benches coming in 4th,however it has basic features and no overclocking capabilities(most stable though)DFI Lanparty PRO875 $219 was 5th and Aopen AX4C Max $198 was 6th.Gigabyte,Soyo,and MSI followed.Depending on what you paid for the board Conan I think you got a good deal.

Motherboard $ 113
Processor $ 230
512 DDR 400 $ 94
I also had to get a LAN card since the board didn't have the onboard model and a 350 watt power supply. The board is really a steal!:D

Barb,nice board.
But for a few extra pennies you could have got the next version up that has onboard Gigabit LAN.
MSI 865PE Neo2FIS2R (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/detail_spec/product_detail.asp?model=865PE_Neo2-FIS2R)
Onboard LAN will use less resources than a LAN card. And theoretically will achieve faster speeds. ;)

I did try to order that board but they didn't have it in stock and didn't know when it would be available. The board that I got was in the store when I went there and I did try to search other places but no luck.

Excellent Board and upgrade Conan, a review in my pc mag gives it 5/5. Quite stable at 800Mhz ;) Dont worry about the LAN, cos at least you got the board now, and dont have to wait 3 weeks for delivery ;) You should be up in no time.
Congrats. I'm still umming and arghing about upgrading... not sure whats to come from AMD or Intel... dont want to get stuck like poor P4 1.6Ghz people who cant go past 2ghz :P
Hopefully AMD or Intel keep pin pattern ;)
