Hello Guys,

I'm looking for the driver to this particular modem, works fine, connects fine in XP listing itself as "generic soft56k" in device manager but it is a Diamond Modem.

Customer needs his computer back ASAP for his business, and it works fine but want to find the right driver to install at a later date. Can't seem to pin down the right one........can anyone help?

info on chip is as follows.......

RS56-PCI
R6793-12
Rockwell 98
9920 B81871.8
Mexico

"Diamond Multimedia"

I've found everything BUT R6793-12! I've tried several (most say they are for a conexant modem) but they didn't work in XP, when I unzip and point to it, says it cannot find better driver in that location.......any help would be great.

Thanks,
Sharon

http://www.windowsxp-drivers.com/drivers/76/76021.htm

Registration (free) required.

But if it works, it works :D I wouldn't worry about it. did the modem not come with a disk?

If it asks for a username and password use:
drivers
all

:D

Thanks BB

Already a member there!

Unfortunately, that is the one I picked.......but says conexant, it didn't work. Did I do something wrong? My chance to learn XP here.......I'm used to 98......simply confused in XP.

He's getting it back today........won't worry about it unless he calls me on it I guess.

Thanks a million as always!

Sharon

There are two ways to install a driver AFAIk in windows XP. One by running the enclosed setup.exe file with the driver.

The other is to manually install it:
start, right click my computer, select properties, select hardware, click device manager, then select your modem, and right click, click update driver, then you can choose two ways:
One let XP install the driver,
If that doesn't work, then manually install it.

Select install from a list or specific location, then click don't search,
then click have disk and find the file folder that you downloaded :D That should install it.
