My Yahoo web account has been e-mailing viruses by itself, yet I hardly ever use it. Yahoo is pretty messed up.

I've not used hotmail for a long time but I thought they had virus filters in place.

Dudes...Sobig.F spoofs email address found inside the files listed below on any infected PC.

.dbx
.eml
.hlp
.htm
.html
.mht
.wab
.txt

Spoofed address means that the sender in the "From" field is most likely not the real sender.

This should all be over in a few days :)

The worm de-activates on September 10, 2003. The last day on which the worm will spread is September 9, 2003.

Imagine if the worm never deactivated...

I wasn't sure whether phish sent me that or not because of the content of the message. I had recently used F-Secure Antivirus.. so I thought it strange. Most of the Sobig virus messages, only have the subject line:

RE: That movie, or something similar.. but this one had a message in it which I thought maybe phish was telling me I gave him a virus LOL.

Just checking.

That would be a pain in the ass! You'd probably keep receiving spam from all those people who don't know to update their PCs!

I think it will only be a matter of time before someone comes out with a virus that does not de-activate and compromises different security loop holes in Windows. Just don't give anyone any idea Big Booger :D

why do they make virus/worm to deactivate anyway? I would have thought it better, or worse, to just keep them running?

Well lucky for us anyway then :D

I think the next wave will be the 9/11 worms.

Most are made just to prove that it can be done..not to cause major grief. However they usually end up doing both...

what would be a kickass worm is one that generates random names, random messages, random subject lines, never de-activates, disables your AV, remove the system restore function, infects every file on your PC, autoruns on download, disables firewalls, sends traffic on all ports, and DoSes the PC that it infects through the contact list of the user it infected

LOL

I wonder if anyone here really knows how to create a virus that functions that way.

:)

Lets just hope that the different virii writers dont form a coalition of the willing and combine all those nasty facets of virii or worms.

They could be the M$ of black hats ?? LOL

Not me! I never really saw the point of creating virus's and sending them to people. I like to tinker with Trainers and Memory editors and the such.
