still use AVG? I currently use Nortons, however I think it's a pig (on resources). What are your thoughts concerning AVG? (I've read a lot of positive things about it) Also, are there any noticeable differences which influenced your decision?
Curious to know.
Thanks,

I installed AVG on my neighbors PC, on my mom's PC and on one of my PCs. Works great. though they went from a free version, to a newer not free but trial verison. the free version is still available but is not being updated AFAIK.
Other than that it is a great AV.

I used AVG Pro for a while but it didn't make me feel as comfortable as Norton did when scanning POP3 e-mail. So I went back to Norton.

BB - I don't understand. I use the free version of AVG. I get updates two to three times a week. There was one today.

Ah I see, but even that does not seem to scan e-mail like NAV does.

I didn't mean definition updates. I mean that the development of the free version is halted. There will be no more new improvements to the interface, options, etc... The application itself.
You will most likely continue to receive the free virus definitions as long as you have the app.
And I am not slating it in the slightest. It is very powerful, installs on many machines and uses very little resources. I have it installed on my neighors PII 166 with 192MB ram, running windows 2000. :D Nav just drained that PC... AVG works 100% on the same machine.
Sorry about that, it did sound kind of vague now that I read it over again.

Corportate edition takes less rosuurces, but try Playing UT and you will see lag even locally. That is because it scans the files that you use in UT too. That is actually what a corporate AV should do, scan every single file the computer access. Norton personal edition doesn't have that much problem. IT makes it slower, but not as much. Don't ask me why thought since they should work similar. I guess corporate is made more like stealth than the home edition, but corporate is more throught. IMHO
