View Full Version : csrss.exe hogging 100% cpu shadow_warez November 15th, 2003, 03:05 AM anyone know how to fix this form happening? it seems to happen after i configer the server with iis 6, any help would be greatly asppriacted, Big Booger November 15th, 2003, 12:03 PM A little about that service: csrss - csrss.exe - Process Information Process File: csrss or csrss.exe Process Name: Client/Server Runtime Server Subsystem Description: The Windows Client Server Runtime Subsystem handles Windows and Graphics Functions for all Subsystems Common Errors: N/A System Process: Yes Csrss.exe You cannot end this process from Task Manager. This is the user-mode portion of the Win32 subsystem (with Win32.sys being the kernel-mode portion). Csrss stands for client/server run-time subsystem and is an essential subsystem that must be running at all times. Csrss is responsible for console windows, creating and/or deleting threads, and some parts of the 16-bit virtual MS-DOS environment. SCAN FOR VIRII.. doing a little searching it would appear that a virus could be the culprit.. Try shutting off the IIS 6 and see if it goes back to normal. If so you may not be able to use IIS 6 on that particular machine with that OS. Are you running this server on a single chip unit or is this a multi-chip server? It is quite possible you'd need to upgrade to run the IIS 6 on the server and maintain usability of the OS at the same time.. not 100% sure and it depends on the server load I guess. At the very least consider a chip upgrade with hyperthreading capabilities. :D shadow_warez November 15th, 2003, 14:08 PM iv tryed my old system wich should work i loaded it with 768 megs of ram, a 1.6 ghz pentuim 4 cpu, ata 133 hd, hopin itd be enough to host a small ftp =) but i guess not, i cant scan for a virus, its slow even in safe mode, iv tryed everything to speed it up, is thier some kind of serivce pack for .Net yet? becuase i also had it on my other rig which was loaded, it had 2 gigs of ddr 3200 corsair mem, wd raptor sata drive, due amd mp 2800 (overclocked) cpus with upgradeware, it was the rig i always wanted, =*(
