I was thinking about getting a second IP from Comcast. I believe that in order to do this I have to get another cable modem. My question, if anybody knows, is when I get the second IP, do I get a connection like if I was in the next house?? Meaning the same bandwith, instead of sharing it as when I use a router.
???????????????????????????????????????????????????????

i always had 2 ips with every isp, and it was free, but if you have to get a diff modem and pay another $40 a month, then yeah bandwith will be doubled,

That is great. I was thinking to have 2 accounts. One to connect and run my File appz (horses related, and such) and the other for normal surfing and web hosting (maybe some serious gaming too).
Is it a good idea?? Plus I am moving next to my sister, so we can share Internet, but I don't want to punish her with slow speeds because I am always doing something online.

also, when you move next door to sister, you should consider wireless, IE, she gets a connection, then you can share it via wireless next door, or visa versa.
This is common in apartments, well sometimes when the owner doesnt know ;) ... so i heard.

Well, why wireless if we are at 100 feet away maximun with a nice ceiling ;)
Wired we have a more secure connection, and more bandwith for the LAN. I usually have all the music in my PC, so my sister can access it thru the LAN ;)
Thought, the problem is that we don't want to share the bandwith. IT is not that I don't want to share, but since I use my bandwith so much, I don't want her Internet connection to be too slow. Mine becames too slow sometimes.
My mother has that problem, whenever my brother is playing online, her connection gets so slow that she cannot even login to yahoo (She had a lot of spyware too, but I cleaned that)

I was trying to make some suggestions, brainstorming ideas. Hope it all works out. :D
