Here's a couple of free guides Here (http://www.yohng.com/phpm.html) and Here (http://www.aarean.com/addons/mysqlguide.php)

And this one you can buy Here (http://databases.about.com/cs/shareware/gr/mysqlreference.htm)

MySQL is a good free database, with excellent connectivity. The best site would be its homepage, linked by Conan - good work bro :D

If you are looking for professional experience, you would have to go for Oracle 8i or newer. Some companies simply use M$ Access DB.

Good Luck.
