Web based apps freeze after computer idle for 2 hours

Hey guys,

I was wondering if I could get some help with this situation. Whenever I leave my computer on a webpage and comback about 1-2 hours later, all web based apps are frozen. I can run any other program, but I can't browse in IE, can't send and receive in eudora, can't use IM. It's xp and a dsl connection. I've reset tcp/ip, cleared cache and cookies, flushed dns, ran a system file checker, scanned for viruses on my norton and using housecall at the trendmicro site, and have loaded all the available windows updates.

Any ideas? Any help is appriciated!

What they may not realize is that some of them actually collect and disseminate information about those using them. You should check for spyware that may have hijacked your browser and could be using valuable bandwidth and has attached itself to the windows operating system. These things can send you email Spam and also send you additional popups at every web page you visit.
You can download a program called "ad-aware". This is a free program that will detect 1000's of web tracking spy software that may have found a way on to your computer by using strange tricks. You may get it from here,

You should delete everything it detects.

Now you should run this to get all the other bad things you might or might not have

Wow, thanks for the quick responce Egghead! My bad. I did fail to mention that I run Ad aware and Spybot and my system is clean. Sorry for leaving that out. That was actually this first thing I checked. I should say as well that I am still trained when this happens. I never loss the connection. Hmmm. I dunno. Thanks in advanced for the help though. This has got to be the best tech forum out there for getting good answers fast!

Disable it and see if that fixes it.
