Windows XP. After logging on, all the icons and start menu flash on and off very quickly. There is no way to stop it. I tried a registry fix at Kellys-Korner but it didn't help. Ran a virus check in safe mode, none found. Any ideas on what could be causing it?

Do the icons flash repeatedly or just at the beginning?

can you be more specific about your Video card and the motherboard?

Have you updated your video card drivers?

Have you tried lowering your resolution?

Interesting error

They flash repeatedly so fast you can't do anything except get in safe mode. My computer is exactly the same as my son's, they were both bought the same time from Dell. I can't believe it's the drivers or motherboard but I could be wrong. I'll try updating the drivers and check the resolution.

I would try doing a System Restore to a point before this flashing happened.

I went back a month before it started to happen with no results.
