View Full Version : Masters of Death Battlefield Vietnam Server PIPER March 27th, 2004, 23:19 PM SupaStar March 28th, 2004, 03:22 AM Sounds good PIPER, I just need to get the game fist :( Big Booger March 29th, 2004, 09:18 AM Piper why'd you get rid of the post :D PIPER March 29th, 2004, 11:37 AM there seemed to be a lack of interest...only two responses, and like the call of duty server offer that no one appeared to want I went elsewhere with the offer. Big Booger March 29th, 2004, 12:06 PM :D I understand. Let us know how your server is getting on. I think most are still waiting to get the game. I know of 2 members that are anyway. :) Stripe March 29th, 2004, 13:25 PM I agree with Boogs that it's just a matter of getting it all organized. I just got around to the game last night and think it's pretty cool. rik March 29th, 2004, 14:06 PM I finished all the single player missions and it's ok...Single player in COD was much better IMHO. I'm sure multiplayer will be cool tho, especially in the Ho Chi Minh missions. PIPER March 30th, 2004, 06:48 AM I finished all the single player missions and it's ok...Single player in COD was much better IMHO. I'm sure multiplayer will be cool tho, especially in the Ho Chi Minh missions. Tough to beat COD for single play action. BF Vietnam is a different style of game play...need multiplayer action. I don't like the fact that a joystick can not be used though. At least I did not see it listed anywhere in the config setup for controls. cash_site March 30th, 2004, 07:08 AM Tough to beat COD for single play action. All you have to do is get in the vicinity of where you wanna go and then bail before you crash :D cash_site March 31st, 2004, 00:50 AM Hey CS, learn to fly using the KB and mouse like I do!! All you have to do is get in the vicinity of where you wanna go and then bail before you crash :D Oh No dont worry about lil CS, I havent used a Joystick, err ever :p KB/Mouse is excellent, I love the perfect barrel rolls ;) But i was planing on getting a Joystick for other games and BF etc, but might hold off if BFV doesnt support it :( I like the idea of a joystick for the Chopper to PERFECTLY hover. I hate pressing the throttle every other second ;) SupaStar March 31st, 2004, 01:00 AM  No joystick support in BFV?! there has to be, especially now with the Choppers!! that will make some ppl not happy. I guarantee that you can! I have a friend who is happily choppering around with a joystick, although like rik suggests, the k/b works just as well. I have also been told that flying the choppers with a k/b is considerably easier in BFV that it was in the Desert Combat! Big Booger March 31st, 2004, 01:16 AM Yes it is SS. FLying in desert combat was like trying to pilot a spinning top in the air that is connected to a ferris wheel... In BFV, it's much easier, smoother, yet still poses a challenge when you are taking fire from the air and from the ground. I like how you can spawn in some of the transport helicopters. THat is awesome. And of course flying around with the radio blasting is nice too. Some helis can carry about 7 people I think.. or 5 i can't remember the max. As for the joystick, I haven't ever used one in any of the BF games. Kbrd, Mouse for me thanks. One thing I wished there were more of was player models like MOHAA. Mohaa had tons of skins. I'd like to see that in BFV. you can use a mouse for a joystick, just turn the sensitivity all the way down.. Makes flying that much easier.. But I leave it at default, cause a slow mouse sucks during open field combat. rik March 31st, 2004, 14:00 PM I'm sure it would be hard to hover using a KB if you were trying to airlift a vehicle or somethin...Anyone been able to do that yet? phishhead March 31st, 2004, 14:12 PM so does anyone have a keyboard layout? I found one for farcry and it helps quite a bit until I get use to it. SupaStar April 1st, 2004, 01:29 AM Default keys work best for me :) phishhead April 1st, 2004, 02:25 AM Default keys work best for me :) well I know that  I'm talking about the default keys. I have a pic for farcry that has the keys and what they are for SupaStar April 1st, 2004, 03:27 AM well I know that  I'm talking about the default keys. I have a pic for farcry that has the keys and what they are for Oh...now I get ya...you need a key-map to help jog your memory in your old age ;) :p Sorry chief...i don't have one but will keep my eyes open...kind of like this  Big Booger April 1st, 2004, 03:32 AM http://www.keycardhq.de/t2/battlefield.pdf Battlefield 1942 Keyboard Layout.. essentially the same as BFV. Just remember that to pick up aircraft in a cargo helicopter... hover close to it and use and HOLD the ALT fire button usually the right mouse button. OTher than that I can think of no other major changes. SupaStar April 1st, 2004, 03:46 AM Oh and the Radio is the NUM 0 key isn't it? Gotta have that radio :D Big Booger April 1st, 2004, 03:56 AM yeah the radio, almost forgot. Press 0, then A~Q I think. Q turns it off. phishhead April 1st, 2004, 04:19 AM hey boogs can you translate that pdf for me. Big Booger April 1st, 2004, 04:28 AM What you don't speak German? PIPER April 1st, 2004, 09:25 AM I guarantee that you can! I have a friend who is happily choppering around with a joystick, although like rik suggests, the k/b works just as well. I have also been told that flying the choppers with a k/b is considerably easier in BFV that it was in the Desert Combat! Ok fess up....lol....tell me where in the game you go to configure a joystick?.. I was in the game double checking yesterday and also in the manual that comes with the game and I could not find anything that references joystick configuration. :o :o SupaStar April 1st, 2004, 10:20 AM I think you can select it as a secondary control. As in primary W A S D and secondary up left down right. It's all done on the same screen :) PIPER April 1st, 2004, 21:56 PM I think you can select it as a secondary control. As in primary W A S D and secondary up left down right. It's all done on the same screen :) Hanging head in shame :o :o :o ....SupaStar is absolutely correct...damn..how did I miss that...lmao...duh!!! Thanks Dude..you da man!! rik April 2nd, 2004, 00:44 AM PIPER it takes a big man to...well to admit that...you know. cash_site April 2nd, 2004, 02:11 AM As anyone played online yet? How is the Multiplay facet, and how does the Helicopter addition change the play style? PIPER April 2nd, 2004, 05:29 AM As anyone played online yet? How is the Multiplay facet, and how does the Helicopter addition change the play style? I have been online a few times. The game is pretty cool, but there appears to be a lot of spawn killers. I was bagged as soon as I arrived several times. The next problem as I see it would be during flight, especially in the jets due to the size of the maps if you head in the wrong direction the game kills you off before you can turn the damn thing around...lmao...it is funny though because you can watch the players kill each other off trying to get to the choppers or jets...then once they are in the air you can tell the seasoned player from the greenhorn as the craft plummets to the ground. Tanks and apc's are cool especially when someone else hops on as your gunner. I made the mistake of jumping on a chopper as the door gunner..the guy couldn't fly for shit...worse than me even....but you can opt to bail out if you get into trouble as long as you do it before exploding. cash_site April 6th, 2004, 00:33 AM I have been online a few times. LOL, I love the SmakTards, they are soo funny. The best one I've seen was a video made from the DC developers. Was soo cool, watching everything shoot for the Jets/Choppers, then simply go up then crash down ROLF So, do you still have the BFV on your server? It is great for honing your skills. And boy do I ever need it...lmao.
