sounds like a deal to me... the weight really has no effect on what I purchase unless it starts to weigh 10+ pounds... I'm a pretty big guy why suffer with a slow laptop if I can suck it up and carry it. looks like a great way to play some bf1942 on the road...

Looks great. The price too for the specs. For my I prefer a laptop in the 400$ but it has to be at least 900Mhz (yes, I am picky)

actually, My home computer has those specs and I say get it

My laptop is a 2ghz cellery with an ati mobility graphics card and I can play vice city at low resolution for about 2.5 hours on battery

that monster should last 1.5 hours with awesome high resolution and it will not need an upgrade for awhile

i'd get it if you won't loose your girl

well, I found out that you can put your home computer for deduction out of your taxes here. That save me from paying this year (I really do use it. I use Cygwin to use ssh to connect to work).
Maybe you can do the same in Japan, and taxes are expensive there

That is a nice one BB.Laptops are getting very powerful these days and yes 9lbs. is heavey compared to my P3 600 Acer,but my Acer can't play all those nice games that my desktop can.I say if you've got the casholla go for it. :D

Overall, it looks good. No cover on the back (debri and bumps) and the speakers are small, but at least your hands will not cover them up. Are you going to use a mouse? Not sure exactly where the mouse port is located, but it appears to be on the back right-hand side that will cause the mouse cord to wrap around the unit?

BTW, in your profession I believe Gateway gives special discounts if you will use it at work ;)
