Pirate Bay founders face jail after appeal to Swedish court rejected

Two of the four co-founders of file-sharing site The Pirate Bay have had their application to appeal the Supreme Court in Sweden rejected, which could see them facing a spell behind bars.

In a statement on the Swedish courts' web site, it confirmed the request to seek a preliminary ruling from the European Court of Justice had been rejected.

Peter Sunde, one of The Pirate Bay founders responded to the news with an attack on the Swedish legal system, which he accused of being in the pockets of the entertainment industry.

“The judges in the court cases [were] either board members, or in one case the actual chairman of the board, for the swedish pro-copyright society,” he wrote in a blog post.
