MSN Messenger can't open or reinstall

Hey there,

I got msn messenger 7.5 and I am not able to open it, when I do the windows installer shows up for about 2mins after this message comes up:

Then When I try to reinstall it the Windows installer once again appears then this message shows up:

I must add, that my Windows Messenger works perfectly.

So basically I guess this happened after I used system restore.

Anyways, high hopes waiting for a solution.

First try uninstalling it through add/remove programs. Then go to c:\documents and settings\user\application data\microsoft\msn messenger\ and delete that folder. That will remove saved messages, backgrounds, emoticons..etc. Leave if you wish to keep these.

Go to start-run and type: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove

They go to start, run, type regedit. Navigate to this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Microsoft > MSN Messenger. Delete that key.

Restart your PC, do a windows update (may be needing the update windows installer) then restart PC again and reinstall latest version of MSN messenger.

As I said before, I can not uninstall msn messenger, they prompt a message then it is not possible for me to do any action.

So Shall I skip the uninstalling part, and proceed with the rest?

reinstall it over the top of your current one.

I did do that, but it still doesn't work...

It's time to reformat the hard drive then.

nah, it's okay, it's fixed, so the problem was, that some file were missing, and I used the msn messenger directory of a friend and I pasted the data

thats all, simple as 123 ¶¼ª-¾÷67º
