Compacting files on OE has moved files away from Inbox

My outlook express account recently said it was compressing or compacting files to create more space. However now a whole lot of the messages have disappeared from the Inbox, but if I know who they came from I can still find them with the Find Message option, so they are not entirely gone. Unfortunately I don't know the addresses of all the lost files. Is there any way of restoring everything back to the Inbox that was there before? Many thanks for any help.

Open your recycle bin and look for files with a .dbx extension.

Restore these files by right clicking them and selecting 'Restore'
