Clearing cached computer names?

Win XP Pro

Not entirely sure what the problem is but the situation is...
I can seem to still b able to ping a computer name thats just been changed.

Tried flushing the arp by both "arp -d *" and "netsh interface ip delete arpcache" but nothing seems to be doing much :-\ The address goes to my 2k3 router which also holds the DNS. Changes in the DNS have been applied but am still getting this same problem. I guess I should restart the comp but wanna try & do this without having to.
