hello, again.
a friend's pc (XP,sp2) will not log into a new account setup from the admin account. this is the error message:
'Detail: the system cannot find the file specified'
the account setup...

sorry for not being clearer......it is just the secondary account/user that can not be accessed the main/admin accts are fully accessible.
in addition...it was a brand new pc and while adaware SE is installed it has not yet been run

actually, I did not try to load any of the cd drivers until I could not load them any other way. at first there were 3 devices not loading but after changing all the registry permissions under 'PCI'...

I tried to disable as much as I could and only ended up with :
-no mouse, no Internet, no sign of the 'Multimedia Audio Controller'.

thanx Reverend for the reg tweak. the Midi component is now operational and by uninstalling the offending 'audio controller' and trying to use the original motherboard drivers the error message...
nope....got it ready but didn't install it as I didn't want the possibility of compounding the original setup error (see 1st post).
