i called my friend this morning and this was the answer.
it seemed when one sees the images on the computer screen/monitor, the computer does not know the number of pixels it needs to show.

the first program - i do not recall its name...
a word of caution.. sometimes there is no adminsitrator password entered (by you) but the program insists on a password.
microsoft admits there is a bug in its XP and there is a workaround for it....
