Icons disappear

I recently changed some icons on my desktop....my computer- trah bin full and empty. Lately though everytime I have to reboot the icon's disappear and I have to change them back to what I want. I am runnng Win Xp pro,,,any ideas

Try This:
1. Click The Right Mouse Button On The Desktop And Choose Properties
2. Click On Desktop Tab
3. Click On Customize Desktop...
4. Click On Restore Defaults

Also, You Could Try These Steps:
1. Click The Right Mouse Button On The Desktop And Choose Properties
2. Click On Desktop Tab
3. Click On Customize Desktop...
4. Check the Items You Want To See

One More Tip :

#1 If You See Those Items On Start Menu, Just Click Right Mouse Button And Click Show On Desktop .
#2 If Not,
Click Right Mouse Button On TaskBar , Click Properties , Then Click Start Menu Tab, Customize, Advanced tab, Then just Mark The Items You Want To See In Start Menu And Do Tip #1
