    LSASS.exe shutdown issue

    Hello
I recently formatted my system due to ini file getting corrupt, I installed win2k on my pc and the moment the install happened i am getting the error msg that Lsass.exe terminated with error code 128, i scanned the web for the issue and found that its cuz of SASSER worm,

I tried installing the SASSER patch from MS but it says that you need to have minimum of Service pack 2 on your pc to apply the patch.
now the real problem is that my pc boots in 60 seconds which doesnt leaves me with enuf room to install the SP2 patch

Could someone let me known what do i need to do to eliminate this issue?
i tried shutdown - a but it didnt work..

    Any solution would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Have you followed the instructions from Symantec here

Look under "What to do if the computer shuts down before you can patch or get the tool"

Just realized you are using W2K,so those instructions above will not work. They are only for XP.

    Try this instead:

Restart your computer.Press the F8 key, when you see the Starting Windows bar at the bottom of the screen.

Choose "Safe Mode" from the Advanced Options Menu and press Enter.

When you get to the desktop click Start > Run, and type regedit and hit enter.

    Navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>
    Windows>CurrentVersion>Run

In the right hand pane right click the entry:
    Traybar = "%Windows%\lsass.exe"
(Note: %Windows% is the default Windows folder, usually C:\Windows or C:\WINNT.) and select delete.

    Then navigate to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>
    Windows>CurrentVersion>Run

In the right hand pane right click the entry:
Traybar = "%Windows%\lsass.exe" and select delete

Now close the Registry Editor and restart your machine.
