Question Completely removing permissions on a directory

Been havin a spot of trouble again, this time it's a lil more serious than I thought it would be. Basically i set some permissions on a few directories and forgot to remove them before reinstalling XP, and now can't access them. I've tried a few things like clicking properties on each dir and replacing permissions, also using convert /nosecurity with no luck too, can't think of much else to right now, can't really even copy the files somewhere else to back them up and format the partition.

Thanks for the replies but i've already tried those ideas and nothing seemed to work. However I've found a solution which is to use ERD Commander boot disks and remove/reset access to everyone permissions on the directories.
