Well, it was never so much about memory use or processor time as it was long system startup, long app startup and the random freezes. If you have the A/V software you might want to try uninstalling, see how things run and then reinstall if ther is no difference. On a side note I will say that Eugene Kaspersky is one of the top people in the A/V field and I have alot of respect for the product.

I know and no offense taken nor assumed. I was just letting you know where I was at.

I do see some very high cpu spikes with KAV, but primarily at system start up.

what u could do is not have so many prcesses running.

    example.
acrotray.exe is probly not needed i guess
    and ati2evxx.exe is not needed

i have ati card and uses same process
mine isnt running and works fine

u should remove all unneeded applications that are running

oh ok, so u have 1gb of ram
then it wont make any difference.

    u said high cpu usage.
    and u multitask
then are u running lots of applications?

one thing i know is, my computer isnt multi-functional
i cant be running many applications or it slows down alot
    and im running p4 2.4ghz + 256mb 2700ram

    i'd think i need upgrade
and ur cpu should need upgrade aswell for better performance

or if u wanted to u could reinstall windows and see if its still the same

I have given you all the knowledge I have on this subject and it seems I have confirmation on the CPU upgrade thing. Maybe you should try uninstalling Kaspersky leaving it that way for a while and see if anything changes. If there are not I would suggest an XP 2700+
