    Smile Hard Disk Error, Cannot open OS & Cannot Read Disk

    i have a problem, the computer cannot open the OS it appears a message... "A disk error occured".. when i go to BIOS it cannot read the disk... i tried to Reformat it but it doesn't work still disk error... can you help me about my problem? thanks TP

    It maybe a bad sector. You should try to run a specific tool for your disk and perform some diagnostic read/write verifications.

    Check your exact hd model and download from the support page of the manufacturer the correct tool. Usually you have to use a boot floppy because it's a very low level test.

    Some months ago I successfully tried PowerMax for my Maxtor MaxPlus 9.

    thank you for the help ... i'd just tried first to set the jumper correctly and then it works but i think i need it to scan my disk later if it will happened again ... TP

    i mean is the jumper is not firmly set or fastened did you get what i mean now???

    just kidding.... a jumper is a small connector that acts as a conductor for two or more pins on a system component. ok???????
