Dual Boot System C Drive crashed

I have a system with Win98 on the C drive and XP pro on the D drive. (Dual Boot) Last night the c drive crashed after making strange noises and I have replaced it with another drive. As its a new drive I can't boot at all except from the win 98 recovery floppy or the XP cd.
I'm not bothered about the win 98 boot any more as I hardly used it, but how do I get the PC to boot into the d drive XP

you need to boot up with the xp cd and go into the recovery console and type fixboot /? not sure what the switch should be but the ? should give you the available switches to run to fix your issue.

Formatted the new c drive and ran fixboot but now it says "NTLDR is missing press Ctrl Alt Del to restart" everytime it trys to boot up. Also tried changing bios to boot only the d drive but after more strange errors it comes up with the same thing.

Something is required to transfer control to the d drive after c starts booting?

Thanks phishhead, I'll try that tomorrow and let you know. (It's late and one beer too many!)
