Will syst restore recover bookmarks? I know that if you have True Image you can go in there and right click copy and paste into profile. I make copies of my profile and place in other drive and you can even store in google mail.

Yes System Restore should work for that.

    I don't use system restore

    i disable it

firefox bookmarks are a single html file in the Application Data folder for each user profile

what gets me is the backjup it makes was also stripped clean....

that is a very serious flaw and this makes me wonder if this is a windows problem or a firefox problem.

firefox must protect these bookmarks at all costs.

they should be stored in the documents folder and backed up properly.

all my log-in sites arte lost and I have to remember new boards i signed up with etc....

also cool websits i liked are now lost.......

i only burn things to cd

don't ned to backup anything unless i format

i usually just install fresh xp overtop

never have i lost internet explorer bookmarks

but my hd burnt out so i had to start from scratch about 2 weeks ago and now the ones i remembered are lost due to this firefox bug

i am lazy and won't be backing up my bookmarks to another drive everyday

i am gonna go back to internet explorer with all the spyware problems.......

There is a backup extension or you can write a bat file and run task scheduler

    Or try this: http://www.rinjanisoft.com/ezfirefoxbackup.html

come on now. I know your bookmarks are gone forever. I'm just trying to give you options in case it happens again.

    i really mean it

i downloaded the program you posted earlier.

how can i make a batch file to backup the bookmarks?

    xp says file not found

i am going crazy trying to figure this siple thing out

can you post the correct formula?

    i tried,
    copy C:\Documents and Settings\myusername\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\bb76rv.default\bookmarks.html
saved as a bat file and windows cannot find it

btw the extension is the best

but how do i make a working batch file?

Click the options button and fill out the text box. Every time you close the browser, it will create a backup wherever you specify. A batch file is more involved that what you have posted. No need for that with this extension

Bookmark Backup is a simple extension that helps to keep your bookmarks (and optionally other Firefox settings) safe. Each time Firefox is closed, a copy of your bookmarks file will be made to a backup location. If Firefox's bookmarks become corrupted or lost, find the most recent uncorrupted backup and copy it into your profile folder.

    Changes in version 0.3.1:

    * The most common settings now have a checkbox in the Options dialog to make it easier to specify the files to be backed up.
    * Each day's backups are now copied into a sub-folder of the Backups folder, this keeps the files for each day together and resolves the problem of files getting the wrong extension.
    * Removed the automatic install.rdf update link due to bandwidth constraints, from now on you'll have to manually check for updates.
I just rt. click copy/paste or "copy to" my entire profile to my slave drive (since i'm in my profile several times a day anyway) - can save bookmarks to gmail as well.

I can't even count the times I wanted to smash my PC with an axe or sledgehammer - for freezing up (does several times a day) - but I would be down for a long time if I did.
