    Help with installing memory

Hi everyone, I'm new here. This place seems like a nice community so I thought I'd ask for help here. Recently, I bought a 1GB memory stick off ebay to add to my computer. I tried to install the memory stick but my comp wouldn't boot up Windows XP for some reason. I made sure that when I putted in the memory stick into the slot that it wasn't loose.

    1024MB PC3200 400Mhz DDR RAM 128X64
    High Density DIMM Configuration
    Backward compatible with PC2700, PC2100 and PC1600

    CAS Latency (CL 3)
This is a Non ECC, Non REGISTERED
    Double Sided DIMM
    -----------------------

Please somehow help me out. Tell me why it's not working or how I should install it. I tried entering the BIOS thing and chose 'Exit and save changes' but it still didn't work. If anyone know how to fix this problem, please post here or contact me at nobleht@yahoo.com

    Sincerely,
    Kyosuke

Try adjusting the memory settings in the BIOS to CAS Latency of 3 or set by SPD. I think the settings there are set for your old memory instead of the new one.

    Missing or Corrupt Ntfs.sys

OK, I kinda solved part of this problem. This time when I boot my comp, it says "Missing or Corrupt Ntfs.sys" and to press 'r' to repair or something. When I removed the memory stick, this problem disappears right away. I would really appreciate it if someone would help me out with this problem. Please!

    Sincerely,
    Kyosuke

    Run memtest:

What is your memory voltage settings in BIOS? Try raising it. If it doesn't work you probably got a bad stick of memory.

Memtest conan posted will detect if your ram is bad or good. Post back the results after testing. Hopefully if the ram is bad, you can get a refund from the seller.
