windows xp style task bar GONE!!!???

Hi all,

Anyone ever had there XP style task bar disappear?

Under windows and buttons it only displays "classic style" as an option.

I'm not sure what happened. Just went to the computer and the taskbar is the classic style from windows 2000.

Any ideas?

Go to start...run, type services.msc and press enter. Ensure themes service is started....don't know if that will fix it...

Also, there is an issue with StyleXP and XP SP2 and have released a specific build for it.

Grrr exact same problem

3200XP AMD+
1 GIG RAM
Service Pack 2
XP Pro

I selected the blank one above classic, and my screen went blank, i had to run propeties and fix it with no colour to montor (other words blank) it was even worse in in safe mode.

Driving me mad, wasted a day on it. any more news / links to this fix you mentioned?

It has happened once here. I pressed ctrl-alt-del, closed explorer.exe. Then went to file and clicked on 'new task (run...)' and typed in explorer.exe to get it running again. Behold, my taskbar reappeared
