    Java Archive

Can I delete my jar, java archive folder? I got a virus in there somehow and I would feel better if I just wiped it out. I am ok with having to reinstall applets and stuff. This first appeared when I was suddenly redirected to a strange site, I believe the virus was some sort of java control. Is there anything I can do to change the settings in java so it won't do this without at least asking? Thanks
