    XP Pro and reinstallations

    Hi,

    As a legitimate owner of XP Pro

    Tried doing a reinstall of XP, about the 5-10th time since purchasing it to find it would no longer auto activate and instead I had to phone up.

    Any one else suffer from this??

    Seriously p'd me off as the key is no useless

    No. I run the retail edition and never had that problem.

    there is a file that you can copy from a legitmate registered install that you can restore after a reinstall so that you don't have to call or reregister can think of the name off hand of the file though remember reading it in axcel's site.I'll get back to you

    Richard,look in C:\WINDOWS\system32 for the file "wpa.dbl" .
    Back this up to floppy.Re-install XP,then restore the backed up file to the above directory.

    damn it rev just found it and you beat me to the punch that's the one though never have to reregister unless you change hardware significantly

    what a service eh , they cant help you fast enough in here , fighting each other to give you an answer , now that is what i call service
