    Compresing Video

I wanted to make like a Video DVD for my wife. Since my web cam can record video at a decent quality I decided to try, but it seems my PC isn't powerfull enought to record and encode on the fly, making the sound to have a delay. So, I recorded a couple of videos in raw format and I wanted to see if encoding them to something else will keep the synch in video/audio, but reduce the size.
Anyidea what to use?? and something that is fast to learn since I am a bit delayed in this project??

At the beggining I thought it was going to be as easy as to put the web cam to record in the format I wanted, and then burn to DVD, but, later I realized I had a serious. Then I thought, Ok, I will record it on raw and pass it to another format, that should be easy...
    Man, technology is difficult

I got the power VCR. Hopefully I can test it out tonight, since I re-did the whole run with the computers, so it is a mess (instead of looking better)
    Any tips ??
