Post SkyOS: not Windows, not Linux, not MacOSX

I have read some news about SkyOS and it seems to me very interesting. What do you think about it? I'd like to test it but it's not free for downloading (you have to pay $30 for receive a beta version on CD).

SkyOS is an operating system written from scratch for x86 PC's. As required for a modern operating system, it supports features such as multiprocessor support (SMP), virtual memory, memory protection, multitasking and threading etc. Additionally, SkyOS has a built-in GUI system named SkyGI.

For more informations website, screenshots and an article.

How can you justify users paying for a BETA product??? I don't get that. I'd never bug test a product and have to pay for it.. ridiculous.

You're right BB! It's a pity because it seems a very good project.
They should allow free downloading, at least via BitTorrent.

I agree with you guys but I guess what is happening here is that the support the beta players give the company will ultimatly get them support for the options they need.

i looked at the pics and I am impressed.

Website says you pay 30 to become a member of the beta testing team - you get all the betas and you will also get the product when it finally goes gold (if). I find it hard to get excited about an OS - we already have BeOS, Unix, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, MacOS etc...etc....etc...etc...etc...
    What could be better?
Titanic OS, you turn it on and after an unspecified amount of time it just bombs without trace.

    Or was that Windows ME?
