I use a reg cleaner. I took a guess and restored that one key. (you are able to restore one at a time or all at once with VCom's "Fixit" utilities)

When you run it, it gives you a list of green, yellow, and red. (safe, better make sure, and you better-better make sure) I made a mistake.

to elaborate: green section is safe to remove. When you get to yellow, it is suggested that you go through each entry but you can select them all for deletion without sorting through them. The red section you have to approve each one for deletion - I think there is where I was not paying attention. This app will not let you blindly trust the reg cleaner to delete keys. However, I should have been more careful - there is a backup anyway.

*edit - however, I do not know why that key was marked for deletion - even if it was in the red.

What were you doing that removed the key in the first place? Any ideas?

heh, what? I was using the reg cleaner and inadvertently removed the key that was erroneously suggested for removal (most likely in red though)

Gotta love these apps that "help" you clean your system. Kinda like the old "Orphaned DLL Finder" in the old Nuts and Bolts SW...

I'll admit, I'm not their biggest fan, however this reg cleaner app seems to be one of the better ones.
