    System Restore

I just reduced the size of system restore to 1% or 1061 mb. I have a 80 gig hard drive, and running XP Pro. It looks like I have about 12 or more restore points right now. I assume when the restore feature runs out of room it will just delete the "oldest" restore point. Is that correct, or will it stop making restore points ? Thanks, Mike

which can be a problem if you dont realise when your computer breaks and need an earlier restore point

Yeah wonder my M$ didn't make system restore keep the very first restore point no matter how many you have after that ?

Guess that would be too easy...or is it because of the activation thing ?

The default live time for a Restore Point before it is automatically deleted is 90 days. This can be changed as shown below. If System Restore has to delete a Restore Point because of hard drive space issues it is always done on a FIFO basis.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\SystemRestore

    RPLifeInterval

This value specifies, in seconds, the restore points Time to Live (TTL). When a restore point reaches this time and it is still on the system, it gets deleted. The default value is (7776000), which will be 90 days.
