What is the best/most useful Freeware out there

Simply, I'm polling board members to find out what, in their experience, has been the best/most useful freeware.

In case I'm missing out on something, I would appreciate your recommendations as to what you have downloaded and found useful over time.

    Thanks
    Halder

Here are my favorite "free" software programs. It is hard to choose a number one choice, since my computing experience would be dull indead without all of these.

    AbiWord - BelarcAdvisor - CrapCleaner - DrTCP - Firefox/Mozilla/Thunderbird - IrfanView - JetAudio - AVG - Spybot S&D - Startup Manager - AdAware - Regclean - ZoneAlarm

    Also must include Mandrake Linux.
    Linux Mint Debian Edition

well depends on the category, virtual dub is great for movie encoding and the xvid codec is the best for encoding i think the quality is sometimes even better then Divx

then there is winamp the basic version is good i mean its fully functional and properly equipped as a media player.
