How do I set Firefox as my default internet browser?

I want to be able to set Mozilla Firefox 1.7 and Thunderbird as my default browser and email program. However, when I do this by the normal route I end up changing the default browser of every user on the machine. Is there a way to do this without this happening?

In Firefox, open Tools>Options. Click General tab. At Default Browser click on Check Now.

When I do this it states that Firefox is already my default browser. I am sure that you will find dialog to make Firefox the default.

SirJavaBean...are you on a secure network? THe default option that efc proposed should only change the client machine that you are working on...

Otherwise you may have some network settings confused....I had a problem at home similar to this...when I changed my default browser it changed the default settings on another local machine in my house. Turns out that the admin network settings were selected to "let my admin choose my defulat network settings"...hope that helps...

nah, its just for the local users on the machine. its really annoying cos some people like IE (shock horror! ) and i like firefox
