    ram problems

    System:
    amd 3500 64 socket 939
    A8V asus mobo
    2x Crucial CT6464Z40B 512mb DDR 400MHz PC3200 ram
    geforce 6800 le

    Im having problems getting the ram to work as dual channel
    theres 4 slots, 2 blue and 2 black

    im surposed to put the ram in the 2 blue slots but then it wont post, but if I put it in a blue and a black it posts but only as single channel.

    can anyone help

    For dual channel configuration you have to use the two blue DIMM slots (DIMM_A1 and DIMM_B1).
    Any other combination (probably) works only as single channel.
    Your Crucial CT6464Z40B doesn't appear in the DDR400 qualified vendor list for this mobo so it's not guarantee that they properly work.

    Well Crucial says its approved for both the A8V-Deluxe and A8V-E Deluxe, in fact its highlighted in yellow as the most popular.

    Try different combinations of the dual channel slots.

    Get the Memtest 86 ISO and burn it to CD then boot to the CD after you make bios changes and test the ram for errors.

    I only read that Crucial CT6464Z40B are not listed in the A8V user manual, maybe because they're newer.
