    Has GMail Gone Public?

Just saw at the login page that, above the fields where your type in you user name and password, it read "Sign in to GMail with you Google Account."

Unless I'm mistaken, anyone can get a Google Account, right?

So you mean (the same way as I do) that anyone can get a Google Account and thereby a GMail account, right?

Yes, anyone can get a gmail account. But, if you have yahoo mail, or if you have an ISP that offers an email, or something like that, there really is no reason to jump on the gmail bandwagon... IMO

2 gigabytes of space is a pretty good reason.

Yahoo doesnt offer free pop3 mail that is an advantage for dialup users with OE. Does Gmail ever plan on coming out with g-messenger?

Why? Come on, you that important you getting 2 gigs of email... what spam?

    What did you do before!!!

But to be serious, I'm just saying if you have an ISP that provides email, or if you already have yahoo mail or whatever, then there's no real point. Well, except being able to say, "I have 2 gigs of email space... that I never use"...

I have no complaints with the GMail service, specially since they added RTF functionality...

BTW@Adiemus: The spam detectors at GMail are damn smart. Almost never has something unsolicited sneaked into my inbox.

Well aside from POP 3 support which I failed to mention, I have a lot of subscriptions to various Yahoo Groups and there are days when I receive 120 e-mails a day and most of them have attachments.

I suppose your e-mail requirements are quite simple that you would never appreciate the advantages of G-mail.

Very true, and the sheer amount of space that GMail offers makes MSN and the likes look like a bunch of clowns...
