Installing Windows XP on new hard drive

I will be replacing the hard drive in my PC with a new (unformatted?) drive. How do I go about re-installing Windows XP? Can I boot from the CD drive and format drive first and then continue installing Windows or do I need to create a boot disk first and format drive and then continue to install Windows from CD? Any advice appeciated.

    Thanks

Yes u can...just change ur boot sequence in bios. It will prompt u from that point on...just remember to change the boot sequence when your finished. Once you've installed windows and it reboots, it will prompt you to hit any key to boot from the cd....just ignore this and let it boot to windows...have fun

Also you will be promted to create a partition in an unpatitioned space.Do that and then I suggest that you format(which is the next prompt)using quick format in NTFS.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
