    CRT color not working

I have a EV500 Gateway CRT monitor and it isn't working properly. I installed 2 128MB of sdram (pc100) and after doing this the CRT is not showing any color. THe computer boots up with a green/amber screen and windows 98se is also in green/amber screen.

This computer has a Vodoo 3 (type 3) that was plugged into a pci slot but changed this video card to see if it was the video card that went buggy or something as such.

Specs of computer is - AMD 500 mghz chip, and Txpro 3 motherboard.

Note the menu for the CRT comes up in color but not the rest.

    thanks

check your crt cable. it sounds like you have a bent pin. take a good look.

I've seen peope throw out good monitors because the color turned bad and they never checked for bent pins.

good luck and welcome to techzonez

You haven't provided enough information for use to know your knowledge level. I am assuming that you know how to set resolution and color quality in the setup. I am also assuming that the new memory was recognized on boot and completes memory test. I would think some experimentation would be in order.

    1. Remove the new memory then check the monitor.

    2. Check settings to see if you can change resolution and color quality.

    2. Reinstall the video driver. Hope you have the disks that came with the computer. Otherwise you will have to download one from a site like driversguide.com.

It can be the same for those crazed twin twisted LAN cables. My father threw out the modem because he couldn't connect and bought a new one but it still didn't work until he realised that the cable was in a complete shambles.

Good find, my screen went yellow a little ago... i assumed it was dry-joints or capacitors gone bad... might double-check
