What other components do you have? Specifically motherboard, Processor, and memory.

Also what is the wattage of your power supply?

I have a ATI XT800 graphics card, w/ 128Mb ram. It is a very nice addition to my computer. I paid $160 for it. New. It handles Halo well, as well as UT2003, Scrabble Online, Chessmaster 10, and a few others. Good Luck with finding a card that suits you.

ATI Radeon X800XL or Nvidia 6800GT, unless you can get a X800pro real cheap.....

Quite sufficient for most gaming. However the ram might needed to be upped at a later stage.

I think any of the cards FG mentioned are great. Nvidia or ATI will do. They are both great makers.

    Hi,
I finally decide to go for NVIDIA 6600GT AGP, and after looking around the NEt for prices, I came across like Price Grabber.com, and they show Different Manufacturers making NVIDIA 6600GT. Like XFT, LEAKTEK.APOLLO. ROSEWELL....
I thought NVIDIA Card was only made by NVIDIA, like ATI , Is is save to buy from these Company ?? ( Never bought a Card before, still using the Original )

    Thanks

It depends on what Company ? most are fine.

The 6600GT is a nice card, king of the mid range at the moment.

I think this is the best one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814143027

    Then these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121195

Stay with one that has the memory clock @1000+mhz and not the 900mhz ones.

The ATI 9800pro is older but still an excellent card, its slightly under the 6600GT. Maybe save some $$ and add some ram to your system ??? Remember you choose to stay "Mid Range" so make a decision on what the best total system upgrade (per $$) would be for your PC. IMHO the 9800pro and 1gig system ram is a better upgrade than 6600GT and your 512mb...if $$ isn't a factor then 6600GT plus ram.

Warning with any of these new high powered cards you might have problems with your generic Power Supply, the new cards (and 9800pro) require lots of power.

Warning the retail cards come with the best warranty, make sure you check the warranty of the OEM cards before you buy

Greatness! These video cards can be so expensive that one can buy you a decent enough rig.

Good ol trusty 9800 PRO... I can't stand for laggy, choppy, fuzzy, low-res images in games.
