    Limited or no connectivity????

    Hey guys,

Got a computer here that simply WILL NOT get on the net. Limited or no connectivity, will not renew IP address.....I don't know how to fix this thing and get it back on the net. Any ideas?

Haven't had this issue yet, perhaps I'm not looking in the right place for the KB article. Unplugged modem, uninstalled adapter, typed in ipconfig/release..to no avail.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Sharon

    Lightbulb Problem fixed!

Ok, I found a wonderful little piece of software that fixes this problem!

Its called TCP/IP Repair and it worked!

    http://www.xp-smoker.com/freeware.html

XP TCP/IP Repair is a Graphical User Interface (GUI) for commands in Windows XP® that repair your TCP/IP registry settings and your Winsock LSP's.

    What is an LSP?

Layered Service Providers (LSP) are small pieces of software that can be added or inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler by other software. Data outward bound from your computer to a legitimate destination on the Internet can be intercepted by an LSP and sent somewhere other than where you intend it to go.

Tried everything that MS suggested but this worked. Never heard of a Winsock and had no idea what an LSP was.....I have been enlightened!
Download it in case you come across the same problem!

Got another customer thinkin' I'm God

    Take care,
    Sharon
