    Partition Help

    I have an 80GB harddisk originally divided into C: (40GB), D: (20GB) and E: (20GB)
During an ubuntu install, I created a new 10GB partition on e:. The install of ubuntu failed.

I have win xp installed on c:

In My computers, I now see e: as 10 GB instead of 20GB. How do I merge the unnnamed 10GB partition back into e: so that e: becomes 20GB again?

    partition magic will do this:

You can delete the 10GB and move the empty space into the existing partition.

Thanks so much for all the help yesterday BB! The errors during XP install and the reboots were because of the RAM like you guys said before.

    Thanks all.

I tought that partition magic might screw up your computer leading to several fixes that will be really annoying.

Why would you think that? I have used it for nearly 3 years and every partition I have ever done using partition magic, worked.

Partition Magic works well for me also.Even after you divide your disk up you can make them all one or take from one and add to another.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Acronis Disk Director Suite is also very lovely for partition management. In fact I like Acronis products all round especially DDS and True Image - hooray for Acronis.
I'm using Windows 7 - you got a problem with that?

When I strart talking about Partition Magic to Create New Partition peolpe hush me saying it's problematic.

    Is it really?

What can be dangerous if I want to create new partition from 40 GB NTFS disk with 30 GB free space using Partition Magic?

I have used PM and DDS literally hundreds of times and I have never had a problem I couldn't recover from. I don't even think about getting a problem - it doesn't happen.

It always depends on the user and the situation. I've never used PM myself but have heard horror stories. It will be up to you to try it...
