Getting Microsoft Word on Dell computer?
About two years ago, we bought a Dell computer that had XP on it. But, it didn't include MSWord. It has Wordperfect. Since Word is more integrated into all Microsoft software, we need Word as well. Do I have to buy Word. Or, is there a way to get it without buying it?

I think you'll have to purchase it. You can read word documents with the word viewer for free:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
You can get a 30 day trial of the Office 2003 suite for free:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/edit...nfo/trial.mspx
Or you can purchase it on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/OFFICE-2003-PROF...QQcmdZViewItem
$135 free shipping (but you might want to research that a bit more)
Or check out price grabber:

What do you want to do with Word that you cannot do with wordperfect, if you don't mind me asking?

Or you can go the OpenOffice route. It's free and completely compatible.

MS has discontiniued Word as a single product I believe the cheapest way to get it is with MS Works which is total crap.
OpenOffice is great but if you find it too large and you're only after a word processor then you could always give AbiWord a try. Although both of the aforementioned are 90% Word compatable I do recommend downloading MS Word Viewer 2003 which is free (as in no $) for viewing the final 10% of documents that won't display properly in the alternatives.

If you opt for MS Word, then as the posters above say, you'll have to buy it as part of a package.
If you have any connection with education, you should qualify for the Microsoft Office Student & Teacher edition, which includes Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint as well as Word.
In the UK, one of the cheapest sources is Amazon where it is about £90 delivered.
