I've created my own website...a collection of moving, sad and happy and humorous poems which I would like to share with others. They come from stories my dad used to tell me when I was a kid. If you could glance at my site and if you know of others who might enjoy it and perhaps tell them of it, I would be most appreciative. Thank you. The address is www.metrocast.net/~wumply/exper-1.html

TopTenReviews is a joke, I think the results stay the same year after year unless more $$ can be made on another AV.

There's referrer tags on those AV's

The PCWorld is ok if you go on just the AV test results, forget the Review part the guy is an idiot IMO......

Results from the 'real test' should be out next month http://www.av-comparatives.org/

It is always difficult to evaluate these comparisons as people in the business know that they are often well wide of the truth. It is hard to see how Norton Antivirus can score higher marks than Avast Home Edition and Antivir Classic both of which are free, offer a good level of protection and don't reduce your system to a crawl or embed bits of themselves everywhere.

I can see why BitDefender, McAfee 2006 and Kaspersky are highly rated and the score span is about right as even the worst are not that bad now but I don't see AVG as being that low - after all who cares about the GUI you just want it to protect you, which it does.

Bottom in that group for me would have been Norton - you pay a lot of money to lose half the power of your PC for no good reason, that sucks. The rest are much of a muchness except the top 3 and NOD32 which wasn't in the test. Avast also does a preboot scan which gives it a few extra marks in my book, at the free price it's pretty awesome.

For someone that wants very good protection for no money outlay a combination of Avast Home (free) with the free BitDefender8 scanner (which you can schedule) is excellent.

    Headlines -
They all got 100% of In the Wild viruses, thats the important bit.
Heuristics are crap in all cases (50% is useless) so you need to keep sigs up to date.
Response times for signature updates are all Ok - usually next day or better.

I'm using Windows 7 - you got a problem with that?

    yep

Avast beat some of those AV's in heuristics and avast doesn't have heuristic detection (except mail and thats not real heuristics in a sense)

Word on the street is NOD32 was left out because somewhere in the past a bridge was burnt between Eset and AV-Test.org....rumor ?

Well no kidding, I didnt know the site wasnt reliable. I just happen to come across the anti-spyware reviews they did.

    http://anti-spyware-review.toptenreviews.com/

I started using the Counter Spy program. So far i have to say I like it. I just happen to look at the other reviews they did and came across the anti-virus one, so I posted it. I have always used norton, and I am currently using the 2006 version. But at least now I know to be more wary of using there top rated products.

Actually the reviews @Top 10 are fine when it comes to comparison and features between products. But to rank AV's/products is another thing, AVG #3 over all those other AV's...C'mon

For the most part you won't go wrong with a product @Top 10...but its a front for making $$$ off those products
