Can I safely try to uninstall a programm in SafeMode

    Is this a doable option.

My computer crashed today. OK, it's going again. Oh yes, and all my restore points were lost! I lost some critical and non-critical data. But my anti-keylogger program now insists on my entering my PW when I call it up or when it senses some program (mostly ones I must now retell it are OK to let run)--and when I do, it says "invalid PW." I thought to uninstall and reinstall but again it won't accept my PW when I try to uninstall it with Add/Remove. (I suppose the app will detect any external attempt to read the stuff I type and hold it up until I tell it "accept".) But then it would ask for my PW and I'll be back at ground zero.

I assume that in Safemode it would still want the PW (Yes...No?) and I've never heard of using SafeMode to uninstall an application. Butl then I wondered: "would it work?

What do people think? Are there other preferable options?

Afterthought: I suppose Safemode is a dead end--as the program would still ask for the PW.

I've created my own website...a collection of moving, sad and happy and humorous poems which I would like to share with others. They come from stories my dad used to tell me when I was a kid. If you could glance at my site and if you know of others who might enjoy it and perhaps tell them of it, I would be most appreciative. Thank you. Certainly You can try uninstalling in safe mode. It may ask for the PW, it may not. But it never hurts to try. And when you boot into Safe Mode, go ahead and use the Admin acct.

Well, rik, I gave it a try--and WON: HOORAY! But not as I had expected. I went to Msconfig, selected Boot.ini tab, told it to boot into Safemode, clicked Apply and OK. Windows shut down and rebooted BUT INTO NORMAL MODE! One by one all the anti-keylogger allowed programs came up marked "accepted" (normal behavior), my lost files were returned and I checked that anti-keylogger would accept my PW--WHICH IT DID. Oh...and all my system restores reappeared too! Thanks!

Pretty cool! It's like there's a self-repair built in. I suppose the boot process IS that in a sense. I've no idea though why it did not boot into safemode--I am sure I clearly told Windows to do that.
